Friends of McCormick Park
Volunteer work aligns with our core values. The Friends of McCormick park group meets the 3rd Weekend of March, 1st Weekend of June, 1st Weekend of October to remove invasive plants and build native habitat to enrich community and support wild life.
Why McCormick park? I live adjacent to the park and I love what it has to offer! This 70 acre park hosts Little League Baseball, BMX rallies, frisbee golf and has tons of space for gorgeous pollinator and avian habitat, IF we create and protect it. McCormick park is a remnant of Oregon's Oak Savannah. It already hosts some stunning natives, such as Big Leaf Maple, Oregon White Oak, Camas, Fawn Lily and Ookow. McCormick Park is also home to many invasive plants and noxious weeds including Blackberry, Holly, English Ivy, Periwinkle, Scotch Broom, Lesser Celandine and Yellow Flag Iris. Removing invasives and replanting natives will build habitat to support our local wildlife, improve our watershed, and reinvigorate the natural beauty of our park.
